After scoring a hit with a series set in the 1960s, AMC reaches even further back in time for this new spy drama based on actual events during the Revolutionary War. Jamie Bell, Seth Numrich, Daniel Henshall and Heather Lind star as the founders of America’s first intelligence agency, the Culper Ring. Burn Gorman and Kevin McNally also star.
Star-Crossed 8-9 p.m., WTVX, WSFL
After Roman (Matt Lanter) invites Emery (Aimee Teegarden) to celebrate an Atrian holiday with his family, she asks Sophia (Brina Palencia) for advice on impressing her mother (Susan Walters Ashby). Vega (Merle Dandridge) taps Drake (Greg Finley) as the new undercover operative, but Roman wants her to reconsider in the new episode An Old Accustom’d Feast. Being Human 9-10 p.m., SYFY
In the gut-wrenching series finale, Sally (Meaghan Rath) is desperate to keep her vision of Aidan (Sam Witwer) killing Josh (Sam Huntington) from coming true. She makes a huge sacrifice that changes Aidan’s life forever as he tries to destroy the evil spirit in the house.

The competition moves on to the next phase in the new episode The Playoffs Premiere. The top 20 artists perform for judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher, who will each eliminate two team members and send the remaining 12 through to the final phase — the live shows. The Hecks are looking forward to hitting an all-you-can-eat buffet after church, but after their family squabble disrupts the service, the visiting minister (guest star Keegan-Michael Key) insists they stay behind for some counseling. It turns out they need a lot of it, and they may not make it to the restaurant in time. NOVA 9-10 p.m., WXEL, WPBT
The three-part series Inside Animal Minds opens with Bird Genius, which will probably blow some human minds — and make them think twice about using birdbrain as an insult. You’ll meet a crow that can work through eight steps to get at food, a raven solving a puzzle at high speed, and a cockatoo that can pick locks.

Mary (Adelaide Kane) finds out that there’s a secret clause in her marriage contract, thanks to her mother, Marie de Guise (Amy Brennan), and Queen Catherine (Megan Follows). Ragnar and King Horik (Travis Fimmel, Donal Logue) agree that Jarl Borg (Thorbjorn Harr) must be brought to justice. They just can’t agree on how it should be done. King Aelle (Ivan Kaye) arrives in Wessex, and Ecbert (Linus Roache) considers a new alliance. Katheryn Winnick also stars in the new episode Blood Eagle.

Carrie (Poppy Montgomery) finally apprehends an assassin who escaped her clutches in the past. She wants nothing more than to put this woman away for good, but she’s got a tough choice to make: The killer has some critical information that could prevent a terrorist attack on the city in the new episode Flesh and Blood. Will (Hugh Dancy) is released from the asylum after Miriam Lass (Anna Chlumsky) is found alive, along with evidence exonerating him from any involvement in the Chesapeake Ripper and Copycat Killer cases. Jack (Laurence Fishburne) hopes Miriam can help him crack the case, but her memory is foggy in the new episode Yakimono.
NASCAR Racing 6-10:30 p.m., WFLX
South Carolina’s Darlington Raceway is the setting as Sprint Cup drivers hit the track in the Bojangles’ Southern 500. In last year’s race, Matt Kenseth took the lead from Kyle Busch with 13 laps remaining, while Busch managed to finish sixth despite having a cut right rear tire with only 12 pounds of air. Proving that the old stereotype about men refusing to ask for directions goes back centuries, Leonardo (Tom Riley) attempts to navigate the Atlantic without any maps. Lucrezia (Laura Haddock) is smuggled into the Vatican to attend a key meeting. While Lorenzo is in Naples, his true identity is revealed in the new episode The Ends of the Earth.
