Man arrested after telling police he had pot on him

GREENACRES — As police officers searched Baby John Chery, they wanted to make sure there wasn’t anything on him that would harm them, so they asked if there was anything on his person they know about.

“I’m not going to lie,” the West Palm Beach resident said. “I’ve got weed in my pocket.”

Chery, who sometimes goes by Cherry in records, faces charges of drug possession and giv- ing a false name. He is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail on $5,500 bail.

Greenacres police were responding to a call of suspicious individual­s looking into cars on the 600 block of Island Shores Drive, near Cresthaven Boulevard and Jog Road, when an officer stopped a group of men and noted the smell of marijuana, according to the report.

When the officer asked for Chery’s name, he originally said it was “Aaron Cherry,” but later said his name was Baby John. The officer found marijuana in one pocket and cocaine in a hollowed-out Krazy Glue tube in another pocket, according to the report.

Chery previously was arrested on an out-ofcounty warrant in April. rectangula­r shape is for grass soccer fields and temporary parking for spring training.

The park’s east border is an 11-acre lake that separates the park from the Nationals’ side of the spring training complex.

City park planners might try to include park features such as docks or picnic areas along the lake’s western banks.

“We are here to get ideas,” Christine Thrower, the city’s parks and recreation director, told residents who gathered at the high school, which is across Military Trail from the proposed baseball complex.

She said it will be the city’s 55th public park. Of the 54 existing parks, only one-third have public restrooms, which was another popular amenity among residents.

Thrower said the city will reach out to the residents again as the planning process for the park continues. she confifirm the capacity in which he works.

Little was released from Palm Beach County Jail Wednesday under court supervisio­n. He has no other criminal history in Palm Beach County, but he had a traffiffic citation for careless driving in Columbia County in 2009.
