Royals get Rios back in lineup
Alex Rios is expected to return to the Kansas Cit y Royals’ lineup for today’s game against the Chicago Cubs following 1 1/2 months on the disabled list with a broken left hand.
Rios has been sidelined since April 13, when he was hit by a pitch from Minnesota’s J.R. Graham. He joined the Royals on Friday after a four-game injury rehabilitation assignment in Triple-A.
Rios started the season 9 for 29 (.321) with eight RBIs.
Astros: Right-hander Scott Feldman is expected to miss about six weeks after arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. Right-hander Michael Feliz was called up from Double-A to take his spot.
Mariners: Left-hander James Paxton went on the disabled list with a strained finger tendon on his throwing hand.
Cardinals: Outfielder Jon Jay, who had been out with a sore wrist, was activated but did not start Friday night.
Rockies: Prospect David Dahl had surgery to repair his spleen after a collision in the outfield during a game Thursday in New Britain, Connecticut, and there’s no timetable for his return.
Diamondbacks: The team selected the contract of catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia from Triple-A Reno and placed catcher Tuffy Gosewisch on the 15-day disabled list with an ACL injury.
Phillies: Cody Asche was called up from Triple-A, and the former third baseman was scheduled for his first career start in left field against Colorado on Friday night. Outfielder Grady Sizemore was designated for assignment.
Reds: Jason Marquis was moved to the bullpen, and the team said Johnny Cueto (elbow) remained sidelined.
Twins: Right-hander Casey Fien returned from rehab for a strained right shoulder and came off the DL, while righthander Michael Tonkin was sent to Triple-A.
