Report: Appeal for Brady is June 23

A person familiar with the situation said Tom Brady’s appeal of his suspension in the deflated footballs scandal will be on June 23.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the date hasn’t been officially announced.

The New England Patriots quarterbac­k was suspended four games after an NFL investigat­ion found that he was “at least generally aware” of an illegal scheme to play the AFC championsh­ip game with improperly deflated footballs.

Brady did not speak with reporters after working out at New England’s organized team activit y on Friday.

■ Falcons: Linebacker Prince Shembo, a fourthroun­d draft pick last season, was waived after he was charged with aggravated animal cruelt y.

Police in Gwinnett County, a suburb of Atlanta, announced Shembo was charged Friday after his ex-girlfriend’s dog died in mid-April from blunt force trauma.

■ Broncos: Denver signed veteran offensive lineman Ryan Harris a day after losing perennial Pro Bowler Ryan Clady to a torn knee ligament.

Harris, who spent his first four NFL seasons in Denver, started 15 games last season for Kansas Cit y. Before that, he spent two years in Houston with current Broncos coach Gary Kubiak.

■ Sharper pleads guilty: Former New Orleans Saint Darren Sharper pleaded guilt y in federal court in connection with allegation­s he drugged and assaulted women in four states, the latest developmen­t in the former Pro Bowler’s fall from grace.

Judge Jane Triche Milazzo outlined the plea deal that calls for Sharper to be imprisoned for nine years, and she now has to decide whether to accept that deal. The next hearing in the case will be Aug. 20.
