As recruiting heats up, it’s time we get to know more about some of Palm Beach County’s prospects. Today, we’re focusing on Oxbridge Academy tight end/linebacker AJ Garson.

The 6-foot-6, 230-pounder is expected to play a key role on offense and defense for the ThunderWolves, who begin FHSAA district play this season after two years of independent league competition.

Last season, the twostar prospect caught four passes for 52 yards and a touchdown while also recording 38 tackles and three sacks.

Garson committed to Bowling Green June 27. He picked the Falcons over other schools such as Cincinnati, Idaho and Oregon State.

Here’s what he had to say:

Why did you choose Bowling Green?

I love the coaches there. I’m from Cleveland originally, so it’s close to where a lot of my family lives. The offense they run there is a lot similar to the offense we run at this school.

What position do you expect to play in college?

They said they were going to try me at both tight end and D-end.

What was your recruiting experience like?

It was fun. It was new to me. This past spring was the first time I was getting attention. It was exciting.

What are your thoughts on Oxbridge moving to FHSAA competition this season after two years in independent leagues?

We’re really looking forward to it. It’ll be exciting to finally play for the bigger goal of a state championship.

Is there a college or pro player you model your game after?

(Miami Dolphins tight end) Jordan Cameron. I used to be a huge Browns fan, and I just loved watching him play when he was in Cleveland.

What is your favorite sports movie?

“Any Given Sunday.” I just liked the whole style of the movie.
