BOCA RATON — With Florida Atlantic’s season opener against Tulsa two weeks away, coach Charlie Partridge said after Thursday’s practice that he was not ready to reveal his depth chart, but said that there are several freshmen who have been impressive.

“There are a number of young guys who are showing up,” he said while declining to name specific players.

Highlights from Thursday’s practice:

■ Freshman running back Trey Rodriguez showed some good moves in the backfield. After sitting out last year, he looks poised to contribute to a backfield that also includes junior Jay Warren and sophomore Greg Howell.

■ The majority of the first-team cornerback reps went to senior Cre’von LeBlanc and freshman Herb Miller. Red-shirt sopho- more Ronnie Scott briefly replaced LeBlanc later in practice after LeBlanc was shaken up while making a tackle.

■ Near the end of practice, freshman linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair got into a small scuffle with a teammate. He blew off some steam, but not before LeBlanc and sophomore defensive back Raekwon Williams sought to calm him.

“It was good to see some emotion,” Partridge said. “We want to control it.”

■ Defensive end Robinson Eugene, a fifthyear senior, earned some reps with the first-team defense, and looked pretty solid, as did sophomore defensive tackle Ray Ellis.

■ Kalib Woods, Jenson Stoshak, and Kamrin Solomon are the main weapons at receiver for quarterback Jaquez Johnson this year. Johnson, who had a light day of practice, cheered loudly when Solomon scored a touchdown to end practice.

Solomon, a sophomore, took reps playing both inside and outside with the first-team offense.
