Boca police arrest man after woman, 74, is attacked.

Boca Raton police arrested a man Tuesday after he allegedly attacked a 74-year-old woman who was delivering food to a homeless person, according to a police report.

Edgar J. Lindamood is facing charges of burglary, battery on a person 65 years or older and vio- lation of a municipal ordinance for being in possession of an open beer can. Lindamood is a convicted sex offffender in Maryland who admitted to living in Palm Beach County without having registered with the Palm Beach County Sheriffff ’s Offiffice as required, the report said.

Lindamood is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $200,500 bail.

According to police, the 74-year-old woman went to South Beach Pavilion Park at 2 North Ocean Boulevard to deliver food to a homeless friend. Because she couldn’t fifind the friend, the woman offffered the food to Lindamood.

When the woman refused to allow Lindamood in her car, he allegedly tried to jump in through the open driver’s side window and punched the victim in the face, the report said. The woman put the car in reverse and flfloored the gas, crashing into a median and tree behind her. The crash caused Lindamood to land on the pavement.

Lindamood, 60, was taken to Boca Raton Regional Hospital as the result of facial laceration­s sustained in the crash and was later transporte­d to jail.
