Miami is back in the top 10.

After wins over Clemson and Florida State last week, the Hurricanes (131, 2-0 ACC) came in Monday at No. 8 in the Associated Press poll and No. 9 in the coaches poll. It’s the program’s highest No. 8 Miami at No. 11 Virginia 7 p.m., ESPNU

rank since 2012-13, when it reached as high as No. 3 in the AP poll and No. 4 in the coaches’ poll. UM achieved more program firsts that season by winning the ACC tournament and reaching the Sweet 16.

Miami is off to its best start since 2009-10, when it opened 15-1. Tonight, the Hurricanes visit Virginia (12-3), which was ranked No. 4 in both polls before falling to No. 11 and No. 13 this week.

Aside from this year and 2012-13, the only other season Miami earned a top-10 ranking was the last month of the 1998-99 season, when it spent the first week of March at No. 9 and No. 10 and dropped to No. 10 and No. 12 after it was bounced out of the Big East tournament. The Hurricanes reached the second round of the NCAA tournament.

UM enjoyed five weeks as a ranked team last year, climbing as high as No. 15 in both polls in early December before a 1-3 stretch knocked them out. The Hurricanes wound up playing in the NIT and reached the final.

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes women (15-2) moved into the AP poll at No. 21.
