City welcomes 3 new eateries

-

Boynton Beach is always getting some type of new restaurant — Pig-Sty BBQ, Bay Bay’s Chicken and Waffles, Jamerican Cuisine.

But recently, there has been a run of new restaurants with healthy alternatives, and residents are happy. The new eateries are The Campo Produce, a market on Boynton Beach Boulevard; Bailey’s Blendz on Ocean Avenue; and the Sailfish Cafe in the city’s library.

“It’s great to have a fresh, green smoothie in the morning,” attorney Marianne Moran said after ordering a Farm Stand smoothie from Bailey’s Blendz this week. Moran said it’s hard to find a similar offering in the city.

Mayor Steven Grant described The Campo as “amazing.”

“It’s kind of what the Heart of Boynton Beach needs,” Grant said, adding that he plans to promote the business within the community.

“Our little corner of the universe is starting to take a Alexandra Seltzer turn in the right direction,” resident Jesse Feldman wrote in a Boynton Beach community Facebook group. He said The Campo’s produce is “drool-worthy.”

Here’s some information about what to expect from the three new eateries:

The Campo Produce: This small market that sells fruits and vegetables opened about a week ago at 126 W. Boynton Beach Blvd., just west of Seacrest Boulevard. The store is co-owned by Cristian Argel and Jhoel Pabon.

Campo is open seven days a week. The market offers organic juices, coffees, pasta, and organic vegetables and fruits.

Bailey’s Blendz: Residents can finally join in the craze of acai bowls. Bailey’s Blendz, which opened this month in Ocean Plaza at 640 E. Ocean Ave., serves the bowls, along with a variety of smoothies.

The cafe is run by Danielle Tarrant.

The main ingredient in the bowls is the acai berry, which comes from acai trees native to Central and South America. The bowls, typically eaten as a breakfast or lunch meal, can be filled with fruits, nuts, seeds and more. The cafe also offers bowls with pitaya, a dragon fruit, as the main ingredient.

Customers also can purchase baked goods and coffee.

Sailfish Cafe: Boynton’s library has a cafe again. The Sailfish Cafe reopened this month. This time, the food is from chefs from the Community Caring Center of Greater Boynton Beach’s Secret Garden Cafe.

The menu offers fresh coffees, French pastries, granola, quiches, healthy juices, wraps, fruits, snacks, soups, salads, and food that fits under paleo, vegan, vegetarian, southern comfort, Italian, Mexican, New Orleans and more.

The cafe, managed by Sheretta King of Taste of Something Special, also sells meals for kids. The library is at 208 Seacrest Blvd.
