Cops: Man hid gun under baby in car

A Delray Beach man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly hid a loaded gun under a 3-month-old baby during a traffic stop, according to an arrest report.

Jacky Saint Jean, 20, is facing charges of aggravated child abuse and carrying a concealed weapon. He was being held at the Palm Beach County Jail Thursday in lieu of $35,000 bail.

S a i n t J e a n w a s a p a s - s e n ge r i n a n Ac u r a T S X that was spotted by Delray Beach police officers driving through a stop sign on Auburn Avenue, the report said.

As officers approached the vehicle, they saw Saint Jean lifting the baby’s head with his left hand “and digging underneath” the baby’s back with his right hand, the report said. The baby, who was strapped to a car seat, began crying.

The driver allowed police to search the car and a 9 mm handgun with one bullet in the chamber “ready to fire” was found in the baby’s car seat, the report said.

The driver told police he was driving Saint Jean home after an attempt to buy heroin.

The baby’s mother was also in the car, the report said.

Saint Jean told police he does not work but he had about $2,000 in his possession, the report said.

The arrest report does not state whether the driver or the baby’s mother has been charged.
