Woman accused in ‘Sandy Hook’ threats in Broward jail
Allegedly sent threats to father of massacre victim.
F O R T L AU D E R DA L E — A 57-year-old woman accused of sending death threats to the father of a 6-year- old boy killed along with 25 others in Newtown, Conn., is being held in the Broward County Jail after a federal court appearance Wednesday.
Lucy Richards, of Brandon, was scheduled to plead guilty March 29 to transmitting threats in Fort Lauderdale and was expected to be sentenced to house arrest and no jail time. But Richards informed her court-ap- pointed attorney the morning of the hearing that she did not plan to attend.
A j u d g e r e v o k e d h e r $25,000 bond and issued an arrest warrant for Richards, who was taken into custody April 3 at Brandon Regional Hospital. Richards remained in the Pinellas Count y Jai l until she was transferred Tuesday to the Broward County Jail.
Richards will remain jailed until a new court date has been set in her case.
