BOYNTON BEACH — A 15-yearold girl desc rib ed to Palm Beach County sheriff ’s deputies last month how she had been abducted at gunpoint, forced into a car and driven to a home west of Boynton Beach where her abductors tried to force their way inside.

But investigators say Josephine Burgio’s statements did not add up. Instead, the teen was complicit in the crimes, authorities concluded last week in charging her as an adult. Burgio bec ame one of the youngest people to be charged with armed carjacking and home-invasion robbery in the past 12 months in Palm Beach County when she was booked Friday into the county jail on one count of each offense. She

was released under court-or- dered supervision the same day after posting $5,000 bail.

Burgio, who lives west of Lantana, is one of more than a dozen juvenile carjacking suspects in the county to have been charged as adults since last September, and the youngest female to face an adult carjacking charge, according to jail records. Two women in their early 20s were arrested early this year for the offense.

The incident occurred on the 5300 block of Steven Road, just south of Le Chalet Boulevard and west of Military Trail, according to a sheriff ’s arrest report made public Monday. No other arrests have been announced, and the sher- iff ’s report does not specify the ages of Burgio’s alleged
