No.1 Oxbridge hosting No. 7 Glades Central

- By Jodie Wagner and Adam Lichtenstein Palm Beach Post Staff Writers Records:

Football returned last week after a two-week layoff, and continues with a busy schedule of games spread out over three days.

Week 6 opened Wednesday with Royal

Palm Beach hosting Palm Beach Lakes in a District 13-7A matchup, and continues with 12 games tonight and eight Friday. Key matchups include No. 1 Oxbridge hosting No. 7 Glades Central, and No. 6 Wellington traveling to No. 8 SeminoleRidge. Both those games are tonight. Three undefeated teams play Friday — Jupiter Christian, King’s Academy and Cardinal Newman.

Tonight’s games

No. 7 Glades Central (2-1) at No. 1

Oxbridge Academy (2-1): These teams have looked better after each dropped their season opener. The ThunderWolves routed a pair of teams from South Florida, and the Raiders beat Orange Park-Oakleaf and rival Clewiston. Both teams have strong defenses, so we could see a defensive battle. Jodie: Oxbridge Academy 27-10; Adam: Oxbridge Academy 24-14.

Spanish River (1-2) at No. 3 Atlantic

(2-1): Combined, these teams gave up three points in last week’s games. Atlantic surrendered three to Park Vista, and Spanish River shut out Lake Worth. The Eagles’ defense is among the best in Palm Beach County, so points will be hard to come by. Jodie: Atlantic 29-6; Adam: Atlantic 21-7.

Olympic Heights (1-1) at No. 4 Dwyer

(2-1): The Panthers are riding high after a big win over crosstown rival Palm Beach Gardens, while the Lions have not played in nearly a month. Rust may play a role in this

district game.

Jodie: Dwyer 30-16; Adam: Dwyer 28-14.

No. 5 Palm Beach Gardens (2-1) at Jupiter

(0-3): The Warriors came close to beating Suncoast and getting their first win in years, but they fell one point short. Gardens also came close to a win, but still lost to Dwyer. It looks like it will be at least one more week until Jupiter tastes victory, as the Gators have much more talent.

Jodie: Palm Beach Gardens 37-10; Adam: Palm Beach Gardens 45-7.

No. 6 Wellington (2-1) at No. 8 Seminole

Ridge (3-0): The Hawks have gotten off to a hot start, but will be tested against the offense-minded Wolverines and quarterback Austin Wallace. The sophomore threw for three touchdowns and 258 yards in a win against John I. Leonard last week.

Jodie: Wellington 30-26; Adam: Seminole Ridge 35-34.

No. 9 Palm Beach Central (1-2) at Boca

Raton (2-1): The Broncos have dropped two straight since a season-opening upset of then-No. 1 Atlantic, but they have faced two tough opponents. The Bobcats were all over winless Santaluces last week, overwhelming the Chiefs 46-8 behind Rod Evans’ four TDs. Jodie: Palm Beach Central 24-21; Adam: Palm Beach Central 21-20.

No. 10 Park Vista (1-2) at John I. Leonard

(0-2): The Lancers lost big to two strong opponents — Palm Beach Gardens and Wellington. The Cobras may not have as highpowered an offense as those two teams, but they can score.

Jodie: Park Vista 26-9; Adam: Park Vista 28-10.

Inlet Grove (0-3) at North Miami Beach

Scheck Hillel (0-1): The Hurricanes’ offense looks improved from last year, putting up 28 points in their past two games. Unfortunately, that has not meant a win for Inlet Grove, which has lost 21 consecutive. Jodie: Inlet Grove 16-14; Adam: Scheck Hillel 14-10.

Suncoast (1-2) at Port St. Lucie (2-2):

The Chargers claimed their first win of the season with a one-point nail-biter over Jupiter, and the Jaguars are coming off a close loss to Okeechobee. This will be an important district game, so a win would be big for either side. Jodie: Port St. Lucie 20-17; Adam: Port St. Lucie 28-21.

Santaluces (0-3) at Lake Worth (0-1):

These teams have combined for 14 points in four games. Something has to give, though,

and one team will claim their firstvictory. Jodie: Lake Worth 16-10; Adam: Lake Worth

17-7.

Somerset Canyons (1-2) at St. Andrew’s

(3-0): Don’t look now, but the Scots are 3-0. Not only have they won, but they have scored 30 or more points in each victory. Expect them to keep firing on all cylinders this week against a Cougars team that has been boom (38-0 win over Miami-Pinecrest Prep) or bust (outscored 82-0 in two losses).

Jodie: St. Andrew’s 29-18; Adam: St. Andrew’s 38-14.

Fort Lauderdale-Pine Crest (2-1) at

Benjamin (2-1): The Buccaneers got back on track after Hurricane Irma with a midweek win against Miami-La Salle. The talented duo of quarterback Jordan Travis and athlete Kaiir Elam can stretch just about any defense. Jodie: Benjamin 34-20; Adam: Benjamin 30-21.

Friday’s games

Boynton Beach (1-2) at No. 2 Pahokee

(1-1): The Blue Devils hung in with Class 8A powerhouse Vero Beach last week, and face a Tigers team that struggled to muster much offense in a 25-0 loss to Seminole Ridge. Boynton has scored 3 points in its past two games. Jodie: Pahokee 23-6; Adam: Pahokee 20-10.

American Heritage (2-2) at Pensacola

Catholic (1-4), 7:30 p.m.: The Stallions have rallied after a slow start, winning two in a row and dominating defensively. The Crusaders broke a four-game losing streak last week with a 28-14 win over Pensacola. Jodie: American Heritage 34-12; Adam: American Heritage 28-13.

Berean Christian (1-3) at BocaRaton

Christian (2-1): The Blazers have plenty of momentum following a road win over Miami Christian last week. Berean has not fared as well, giving up at least 40 points in all three of its losses. Jodie: Boca Raton Christian 31-16; Adam: Boca Raton Christian 35-14.

Fort Lauderdale-Calvary Christian

(2-1) at King’s Academy (3-0): The Lions are averaging more than 50 points per game, and have held opponents to a total of two touchdowns all season. The Eagles won their first two games before falling to Miami-Gulliver Prep last week. Jodie: King’s Academy 48-7; Adam: King’s Academy 5510.

Glades Day (0-2) at Moore Haven

(3-0): The Gators have gotten off to a slow start, but played a pair of tough opening opponents. They face another challenge in the unbeaten Terriers, who have outscored their three opponents by a combined 97-6. Jodie: Moore Haven 27-13; Adam: Moore Haven 20-17.

Saint John Paul II Academy (1-2) at

Cardinal Newman (3-0): The Eagles picked up their first win last week but face a surging Crusaders team that has beaten two Class 8A opponents as well as Class 7A Royal Palm Beach. Jodie: Cardinal Newman 34-7; Adam: Cardinal Newman 27-13.

Orlando-West Oaks Academy (1-2) at

Village Academy (0-3): This season has been a struggle for the Tigers, who have been shut out in all three of their games. The Flame have lost two games by shutout, with a win over Central Florida Christian Academy sandwiched in between. Jodie: West Oaks Academy 16-6; Adam: West Oaks Academy 21-10. South Fort Myers (1-2) at Jupiter

Christian (4-0): The Eagles have been dominant this season, outscoring their four opponents by a combined 160-8. They face an uphill battle, though, against the Class 7A Wolfpack. Jodie: South Fort Myers 30-23; Adam: South Fort Myers 28-27. Jodie Wagner: 46-20 Adam Lichtenstein: 48-18.
