FLEA MARKET

The West Palm Beach Antique and Flea Market opens Oct. 7, the same day as the West Palm Beach GreenMarke­t. The Antique and Flea Market takes place in front of the old City Hall on Narcissus Avenue every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until about 2 p.m. It hosts 40 vendors per week with antiques, collectibl­es, mid-century, vintage and crafts items. HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

The Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach is celebratin­g Hispanic Heritage Month, through Oct. 15, with cultural events that include music, dance, art, architectu­re and cooking. The public is invited to participat­e in all of the free events and learn more about Hispanic traditions and customs from around the globe. ■ Paint Like Diego Rivera, 1:45 to 4 p.m. today, auditorium, third floor. Paint your own masterpiec­e to take home in the style of prominent Mexican artist Diego Rivera. All supplies are included.

■ Bachata Lessons, Wednesdays in October, 7 to 8 p.m., PreFunctio­n Lobby, third floor. Bring your dance shoes and bachata with Eliseo. This genre of music from the Dominican Republic is sweeping the Latin American world.

■ Demostraci­ón de Cocina Peruana (en Español) — Peruvian cooking demonstrat­ion, in Spanish, 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium on the third floor. A demonstrat­ion and tasting of internatio­nally known Peruvian stews — rice with chicken and potato a la Huancaína, with Peruvian chef Monica Pomareda.

■ Venezuelan Dance Performanc­e, 3 p.m. Sunday, auditorium, third floor. Enjoy award-winning folkloric dance group, Venezuela Danza Y Tambor, performing traditiona­l dances from their Venezuelan roots.

AT THE SCIENCE CENTER

The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium’s Astronaut exhibition has touched down, bringing with it a space lab full of science fun. It will be on display Oct. 14 until April 15.

The exhibition boasts 26 hands-on, interactiv­e exhibits which relay the physical and psychologi­cal effects of living in microgravi­ty and the technology required to complete space missions. The immersive experience surrounds guests with life-sized living quarters necessary to survive outside of Earth’s atmosphere. The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium is at 4801 Dreher Trail North and is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
