Dolphins hoping for ‘Lazarus’ performance from WR Parker

-

Wide receiver DeVante Parker hasn’t practiced since the Titans game on Oct. 8.

Do the Dolphins still think there’s a chance Parker could suit up today against the Jets?

“We still just keep on holding out hope,” Dolphins offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen said Thursday. “He’s had some Lazarus experiences out there where he’s showed up at the last second from the dead. We’re so used to it now. I’m not saying it to be cute.

“People fill in. And you go,” he continued. “And you

get a big play out of 19 (Jakeem Grant). So that’s just the way it is. I think the whole league, but certainly

Miami, we kind of thrive on that stuff. It’s harder without (Parker). But guys fill in and go. And we’re sort of built for that.”

Christensen said he needs whatever receivers do play to haul in more contested passes and to drop the

ball less and to create more big plays.

“On a 50-50 deal, somebody has to make a play,”

Christensen said. “It sounds like an excuse, but the more Jay (Cutler) gets comfortable with these guys and they get comfortable with Jay, I think we’ll make it easier.” Parker leads the Dolphins with 12.4 yards per catch

and despite missing most of two games, nearly leads the team with 236 receiving yards. — JOE SCHAD
