An Okeechobee woman was arrested in Palm Beach on Christmas Eve after witnesses reported she drove into a group of people in downtown West Palm Beach, injuring at least one woman, and then drove away, Palm Beach police said.

Rosa Jane Urbina, 22, was arrested by police Dec. 24 after witnesses saw her drive a white car onto a sidewalk at about 4 a.m. on South Quadrille Boulevard near Evernia Street and then leave the scene, according to an arrest report. Two of the three pedestrians were taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center, and one woman suffered injuries to both legs.

The woman told police that Urbina hit her with her car after Urbina’s boyfriend was in a physical fight with another pedestrian who went to the hospital, according to the report.

An Uber driver who saw the incident followed Urbina over the Royal Palm Bridge, police said. The Uber driver told police Urbina parked the car halfway in the street on Brazilian Avenue and ran off.

Police found her in nearby bushes and arrested her on an out-of-county warrant from Okeechobee County for violating probation on a driving-under-the-influence conviction, court records show.

The victims didn’t press charges at first, but later went to police, and Urbina was arrested on a hit-and-run charge, which is a felony.

She was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail and released Dec. 28 on a $4,500 bond. Her next court date is set for Jan. 18.

On Dec. 3, a Tennessee man was killed in a hit-andrun accident as he and his wife walked in the area of Hibiscus Street and Quadrille Boulevard, about four blocks south from this most recent incident.
