Read, write, perform at the Palm Beach Poetry Festival
Get hip to the spoken word at the 14th annual Palm Beach Poetry Festival.
Dedicated to fostering the writing, reading, performance and appreciation of poetry, this year’s event will feature nine workshops.
They will be conducted by workshop faculty members.
Laure-Anne Bosselaar will lead “Twelve Steps Toward Revision”; Gabrielle Calvocoressi will conduct “Poems for the First and Last Day of the World”; “The Transpersonal Self ” will be held by Chard deNiord; Beth Ann Fennelly will lead “Sound, Syntax, Stanza, Magic, Nuts and Bolts”; Ross Gay will conduct “Mystery Before Mastery”; “RealPoetics” will be led by Rodney Jones; “Making Poems that Snap, Crackle, and Pop” will be run by Aimee Nezhukumatathil”; and “DejaVerse” will be conducted by Tim Seibles.
This year’s special guest is Coleman Barks, a major poet and the world’s leading expert on 13th-century poet Rumi, the founder of Sufism.
The event will also include performances by Elizabeth Acevedo and Aja Monet.
This year’s festival is presented in loving memory of Thomas Lux. A biographical history and his 14 collections of poems will be part of a tribute to Lux celebrating his life and essential role he played in founding the festival.
