Student found with gun at Greenacres elementary school
GREENACRES — A gun was found Tuesday morning at Cholee Lake Elementary School in Greenacres, according to the Palm Beach County School District.
The student claimed to have found the gun on the way to the school on Dillman Road just east of Okeeheelee Park. The recorded call sent to parents indicated the gun was in the student’s backpack.
School authorities stressed the seriousness of having a gun at school and said the student may face serious disciplinary action, although it is unclear what that may entail.
This was at least the fourth gun-related incident in a Palm Beach County school in a month.
A Forest Hill High School student had a loaded handgun in his waistband Friday at school, according to authorities. The 17-year-old faces a charge of possessing a weapon at the West Palm Beach school.
A loaded gun was found Jan. 26 on a cabinet in a classroom during dismissal at William T. Dwyer High in Palm Beach Gardens. And last month a Boynton Beach middle school student was suspended after allegedly bringing a gun to school. THE CALL

Good morning, Cholee Lake Elementary
School parents. This Dr. Campbell calling with an important message. We are calling to notify you that a student was found to have a gun on campus this morning. The student claims to have found the gun on the way to school, and to our knowledge, the gun never left the student’s backpack. However, possession of a weapon is a serious offense and the student can face serious disciplinary action. We understand that this is very concerning. Please know that, we are taking this matter seriously and Palm Beach County School District Police Department and Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s Office are investigating.
