Alexander Catucci is the founder and CEO of BioMetrix, a one-stop shop for residents looking to manage their health, wellness and other signs of aging.

Catucci, a nutritionist and master personal trainer, launched the company in Texas five years ago. Since then, the chain has opened three additional locations, including one in North Palm Beach.

Catucci said he also plans to open locations in Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa.

“We are such a new and interesting business,” Catucci said. “It is something that is one of a kind. There is no competition. We are creating our own market share.”

The North Palm Beach center opened about two months ago and offers a variety of services including medical examinations, personal training, nutritional consultations, therapies and cosmetic treatments.

“We put a plan together that is customized for you,” Catucci said. “We make you change your lifestyle. Seventy-five percent of our clients are men and women who have really never been to a gym before. We hold their hand. We walk them through the process. We make them stronger. We make them lose weight.”

Name: Alexander Catucci

Age: 51

Hometown: DeLand

Where you live now: El Paso, Texas and North Palm Beach

About your company: I developed BioMetrix because I recognized there was a lack of resources for the population who stands to benefit the most. BioMetrix provides an all-inclusive, cost-effective solution to managing health, wellness and the issues of aging, all in one facility.

We address an important question everyone faces on a daily basis, namely: How to live a healthy lifestyle as we age.

The BioMetrix concept is based on adding quality of life to your existing years. If you give us six months, we will help you get back to the person you once were, or change you into the person you want to be.

BioMetrix offers solutions for those individuals experiencing a decline in their quality of life due to the natural degeneration of hormone production, eating disorders, stress and cardiovascular issues.

We all get to a point in life where it seems as if a switch was flipped. We feel tired, we gain weight unexpectedly and we just begin to feel different. If you are the person who has tried everything but still can’t seem to get results, then BioMetrix was created for you.

We help you to understand what your body is going through and tailor a program to get you feeling like yourself again.

How your business has changed: We have changed our business model and services several times over the past four years to accommodate our clients. We listen to their suggestions and issues so we can better serve them. We feel if we are not conforming to meet the needs of our clients, then we cannot be successful.

First paying job and what you learned from it: My first job was working in a cement yard making 8x8x16 building blocks, and laying bricks and blocks with my grandfather. It taught me to work hard, be determined and take pride in my work. That job also helped me to see the importance of getting an education, so I didn’t have to destroy my body every day to make a living.

First break in the business: My grandfather gave me a loan after college so I could follow my dream of owning my own company.

Best business book you ever read: A sociology book that helped me understand people’s habits, patterns and lifestyles. You can’t own a business, manufacture a product or sell a service until you understand the customer you are trying to help or serve.

Best piece of business advice you ever received: Understand where your intelligence stops and your luck starts. Also, advice is a form of nostalgia dispensing. It is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

What you tell young people about your business: It’s hard to explain BioMetrix to a young person because they are not dealing with, or fully understand, the challenges of aging. What I tell entrepreneurs is: There are no getrich-quick schemes, only hard work and determination.

What do you see ahead for Palm Beach County? I see great potential to grow businesses that serve 40-yearolds through the Baby Boomer generation. They are looking for better ways to get healthy and live longer.

Where we can find you when you are not at the office: Spending time with my wife and family traveling. We work hard and we play hard, too. Remember, I am not here for a long time, I am here for a good time!

Favorite smartphone app: Sorry, I am not a big fan. I think young people spend too much time attached to their phones. They need to engage with people personally and have more fun. I believe in experiencing life by actually doing something instead of looking at a phone.

What is the most important trait you look for when hiring? I look for intellect and passion. I want to hire someone who finds solutions to problems. Can they think outside the box? As an employer, I learn what motivates my employees, and I use that to help them achieve.
