Loving Cup Filled Up?

- Pastor Chuck Brannon

Real love can change anybody and anything. A man and woman in real married love still shake the ground, make our world go round. Every couple’s marriage is like a loving cup, both partners keep the cup filled up. Filled with agape love that is. Agape? The dynamic, Greek New Testament word for love, describing God Himself, God is love. When two true believers commit to married love in Christ, agape comes alive, initiating the highest, best bond between them. Marriage becomes a sustaining dayspring/lifespring, infusing us with romance, godliness, happiness and longevity. Your love won’t dry up and blow away. Agape is spiritual, emotional, physical, mental, sacrificial and pragmatic, bringing us lasting joy! We all want to love and be loved, we need the “real thing”. Here are agape powers applied to marriage, found in God’s love chapter, I Corinthians 13. Verses 1-3 describe our life without agape. Verses 4-8 show agape at work demonstrates enduring love for an imperfect mate, outlasts tough times, defeats the greeneyed monster, transforms me into we, affair-proofs us, defeats anger-danger, promotes truthtelling and trust, enables us to forgive and smile again, produces protectors not detractors, resolves conflicts and enhances personality compatibility. Verses 9-13 explain how and why agape transformation can happen. Read God’s love chapter today, see what I mean. I know, it sounds impossible. But what’s impossible with man is possible with God. You’ve got to know Him, he loves best. My wife, Sallie, and I have lived in agape for 49 years, it’s still working.
