Trump’s sons buy his sister’s Palm Beach house for $18.25M
Eric and Donald Trump Jr., the eldest sons of President Donald Trump, control the company that last week paid $18.25 million for the oceanfront vacation home of one of the president’s sisters, records show.
The house at 1125 S. Ocean Blvd. — immediately north of Mar-a-Lago’s Beach Club — was sold by federal appeals Judge Maryanne Trump Barry, according to the deed recorded Thursday.
Eric Trump also signed an $11.2 million, 30-year mortgage on the property as president of 1125 South Ocean LLC, which bought the house from his aunt. The mortgage was recorded last week by the Palm Beach County Clerk’s Office. Professional Bank is the lender on the mortgage, dated Thursday.
Donald Trump Jr. is listed in business records as vice president of the Delaware-registered limited liability company.
The eight-bedroom house occupies a half-acre lot immediately east of the coastal road. Unlike many other homes in that part of the Estate Section, the house stands directly on the beach, with about 194 feet of oceanfront. The layout has 10,455 square feet of living space, inside and out. The two-story West Indies-style house was built in 1956.
Real estate broker Christian Angle, of Christian Angle Real Estate, handled both sides of the sale, according to the Palm Beach Board of Realtors Multiple Listing Service. He, Barry and her nephews couldn’t be reached for comment.
The deed shows Barry sold the house as trustee of a revocable trust in her name. Her address is listed as an apartment on Fifth Avenue in New York. She bought the Estate Section house in 2004 for a recorded $11.5 million, property records show. In 2014, she transferred ownership to her trust.
The house stands in the area that is closed to through-traffic when the president visits Mar-a-Lago. Other members of the president’s family have bought property in the neighborhood, including his other sister, Elizabeth Trump Grau, who has a house on Woodbridge Road, immediately north of Mar-a-Lago.
Barry is an attorney and an inactive senior circuit judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit. The court is based in Philadelphia and serves Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and the Virgin Islands.
Angle represented Barry and listed the house for sale in early December. It was priced at $23.9 million when it sold, up $1 million from its initial asking price.
Angle’s listing described its “commanding, in-thesand ocean views.”
The layout includes a formal living room, a sunroom, a family room and a library. On the east side, a balcony overlooks the ocean, a patio area and the pool.
Photos show expansive windows capturing wide sea views in many of the rooms.
The house landed under contract in late March, according to the MLS.
In addition to Mar-a-Lago, the president maintains two smaller houses in the same area. One is on the corner of Woodbridge Road at 1094 S. Ocean Blvd., next door to Mar-a-Lago. The other is on an adjacent lot at 124 Woodbridge Road. Trump transferred ownership of those properties from his name into corporate entities via deeds recorded a couple of weeks after his inauguration in January 2017.
Trump once owned another house, at 152 Woodbridge Road, a couple of lots west of his current holdings there. He sold it to Barry in 2002 for $1.7 million, courthouse records show. She and her son, David Desmond, combined that property with a lot next door, razed the two houses there and built a residence, which Desmond occupied with his wife, Lisa.
The Desmonds sold that property in 2015 as 160 Woodbridge Road for $8.9 million.
Trump also once co-owned Grau’s house with her, although he transferred its ownership solely to her in 2007. She owns it through a revocable trust.
