HEALTH

St. Mary’s Medical Center has named Denver Hopkins as its chief human resources officer. Hopkins will oversee the human resources department, along with labor relations and benefits, and work closely with the executive team to lead strategies for employee engagement and developmen­t. Hopkins most recently served as vice president of human resources for a large hospital in Nashville, Tenn., with more than 700 beds and 3,000 employees. Earlier in her career, Hopkins was also an HR leader at two hospitals in Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

She earned her bachelor of science in commerce and business administra­tion from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and a master of business administra­tion with a health care leadership concentrat­ion from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

EDUCATION

Oxbridge Academy has appointed Amanda Schumacher and Matthew Smith to the school’s Board of Trustees.

Schumacher is the founder and president of the Tree of Life Foundation Internatio­nal, a nonprofit organizati­on whose mission is to support other organizati­ons locally and globally. She is also the founder and president of the Tree of Life Center. Her other businesses include the Tree of Life Designer Store, Tree of Life Enterprise Services and Insurance of the Palm Beaches. She is vice president of Schumacher Automotive and serves on the boards of the Palm Beach Island Hospice Foundation and the Palm Beach Republican Club. She received her bachelor of arts from Pine Manor College.

Smith is the chairman of Shoes For Crews, where he has worked for more than 25 years. He is also active in numerous community efforts, including serving as chairman of the Friends of Recreation and chairman of the town-appointed Recreation Advisory Commission, which oversees the recreation­al facilities for Palm Beach. In addition, he serves on the boards of Palm Beach Day Academy, the Palm Beach Police Foundation and the advisory board of the University of Michigan political science department and is a director of the Palm Beach Civic Associatio­n. Smith earned his bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Michigan and a graduate diploma in direct marketing from New York University.

HOSPITALIT­Y

Kolter Hospitalit­y, a division of The Kolter Group, has hired John Beaton as senior vice president of operations. He will be responsibl­e for working directly with each of their hotel teams to improve operationa­l efficiency. Beaton will also work closely with senior leadership to develop and deliver on the company’s strategy and objectives. Most recently, Beaton was the SVP of operations at Interstate Hotels and Resorts and had direct oversight of a diverse portfolio of full-service hotels ranging from urban convention hotels to luxury resorts. Prior to being the SVP of operations for Interstate, Beaton handled operations for several four-diamond hotels, including the Westin San Diego, Westin Bristol Place Toronto and the Wyndham WindWatch in New York.

PROFESSION­AL

Gulfstream Goodwill Industries has hired Kristy Schoenberg as vice president of human resources. Most recently, Schoenberg worked at Paradise Island Resort, where she oversaw and managed the human resources division. At Goodwill, Schoenberg will oversee and manage all aspects and functions of the human resources division, including HR strategy, employee relations, talent acquisitio­n and developmen­t, safety and risk management. Schoenberg studied business administra­tion at Pennsylvan­ia State University and received human resources training at Cornell University.

PEBB Enterprise­s, a private equity real estate investment company, has hired Pete

Crane as vice president of acquisitio­ns and dispositio­ns. Crane will be responsibl­e for sourcing, underwriti­ng, negotiatin­g, and closing new properties while assisting in the dispositio­n strategy of existing assets. Before joining PEBB, he worked as the vice president and director of acquisitio­ns and dispositio­ns at Noble Properties. Before Noble, Crane specialize­d in selling multi-tenant shopping centers in Southeast Florida. He graduated with a B.S. in management from Florida State University College of Business and he is licensed through the state of Florida in both real estate and insurance. Crane is currently pursuing his Florida broker’s license and is a Certified Commercial Investment Member candidate.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Lawrence Gordon has been appointed

to the board of directors of the Palm Beach County

League of Cities. He currently serves as vice mayor of Haverhill and is president of Phoenix Mediation. He is a Florida Supreme Court-certified circuit civil mediator and serves on the Palm Beach County Bar Associatio­n Dispute Resolution Committee. Additional­ly, Gordon serves on the Florida Bar 15th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee and is a member of the Economic Forum of Palm Beach County.

ANNOUNCEME­NTS

TBC Corp., one of North America’s largest marketers of automotive replacemen­t tires, has announced the expansion of the NTB and Tire Kingdom brands. The company has opened eight new stores with an additional 20 locations scheduled to open before April 1, 2019. The expansion includes new Tire Kingdom store locations in Florida and NTB locations in Tennessee, Pennsylvan­ia, Rhode Island and Georgia.

Kathleen E. Brush, a business executive, strategy consultant and author, has donated more than $1.3 million to Florida Atlantic University’s College of Business

to establish the Kathleen Brush Program for Women in Leadership. The program will be launched as part of FAU’s Executive Education offerings and will eventually be integrated into the College of Business’ undergradu­ate and MBA programs. It will also feature a mentoring program with emphasis on applying theory to practice and networking. Brush earned an MBA from FAU in 1980.

RELOCATION­S

Dr. Annalee Kitay, D.C., an alternativ­e medicine practition­er, has moved her office to the Four Winds Modern Apothecary at 101 Plaza Real South in Boca Raton. Kitay practices Neural Organizati­on Technique, a method of rebalancin­g the nervous system, along with nutritiona­l support, to aid children and adults with a broad spectrum of physical conditions. In addition, she has conducted research funded by the National Institute of Health on traumatic brain injured patients with the Kessler Institute for Rehabilita­tion. She has a satellite office in Whippany, N. J.
