Trump can’t fake way through talks
According to a Washington Post story on March 15, President Trump boasted in a speech at a fundraiser the previous day that he made up information in a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that the U.S. had a trade deficit with Canada without knowing whether it was true or not.
Trudeau told Trump there was no trade deficit. Trump insisted there was and said: “Wrong, Justin, you do.” Trump later admitted: “I didn’t even know, I had no idea.”
Concerning the North Korean meeting with Kim Jong Un, Trump said, “I’m very well prepared,” further explaining that “the outcome depends less on preparation than ‘attitude’ and a “willingness to get things done.”
You can be sure the
North Korean “dear leader” will be well versed in how to praise and manipulate Donald Trump to get concessions from the U.S. while not giving Trump the prize of denuclearization. Kim Jong Un cannot appear to look weak or giving in to what he considers unacceptable U.S. demands.
As reported many times before, our president’s briefings need to be simple and short because of his lack of focus, short attention span and faulty memory. I would like peace on the Korean peninsula to become a reality, but I fear that Trump will bluff and lie his way through these negotiations just as he did with Justin Trudeau.
