Driver hits pedestrian, 5 vehicles and carts

Authoritie­s say a 73-yearold man critically injured a pedestrian while running into five vehicles and some shopping carts in a grocery store parking lot.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Angel Rios Ruiz apparently meant to drive forward as he was leaving the parking lot on Monday. Instead, he put the car in reverse, hitting a vehicle. Then he moved forward and hit the other cars and carts and a 52-year-old woman.

FHP spokeswoma­n Kim Montes said the pedestrian was in critical condition when she was flown to a hospital.

None of the cars hit was occupied. Troopers are continuing to investigat­e. week in PortMiami. The ship will offer four-night weekday and three-night weekend trips from Miami to the Bahamas. Its first voyage left Monday.

Besides restaurant­s and bars, other new attraction­s include a virtual reality bungee trampoline, a pair of racer water slides, a glowin-the-dark laser tag room, a room escape challenge and a surf simulator.
