BE AWARE: FOUR ROAD PROJECTS ON IN GARDENS
There’s a joke that the Northeast has two seasons: winter and road work.
Although we’re blessed with mild weather here in Florida for all but a couple of weeks of the year when a hurricane threatens or skims us, it seems road work season is upon us. Here are a few upcoming and ongoing projects to be aware of in Palm Beach Gardens:
I-95 and PGA
Boulevard: lighting improvements
Next week, the Florida Department of Transportation will start a $424,445 project to replace traffic light poles with a new LED lighting system at the Interstate 95 and PGA Boulevard interchange.
The work starts Thursday, and FDOT expects it to be finished by early 2019. Single-lane closures are allowed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday through Tuesday night. Only one ramp may have closures at any given time.
If workers need to completely close a ramp, FDOT will give two weeks’ notice and provide detour information. In all, contractors will replace six light poles at the interchange. Arc Electric is performing the work.

Palm Beach Gardens: road repaving
The city will start its yearly road milling and resurfacing work Thursday and continue through Aug. 10, weather-permitting. Here’s the plan:
■ Phase 1: The work will start with Sandalwood Circle and transition to Meridian Way north and south, Holly Drive from I-95 to Gardenia Drive, Carnation Circle North and South, Seagrape Way, Spruce Lane, Juniper Lane and Golf Access Road.
■ Phase 2: Workers will resurface parking lots at the Riverside Youth Enrichment Center, PGA National Park and Sandhill Crane Golf Club.
Anyone with questions can call Louis Johnson, Palm Beach Gardens’ streets and stormwater operations manager, at 561-804-7048.
PGA Boulevard at RCA Boulevard: turn lane construction
This project is ongoing, but eastbound PGA Boulevard at RCA Boulevard has the outside lane closed 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through July 13 for turn lane construction. Call Project Manager Joe Whitten at 561-662-3201 with questions.
PGA Boulevard from PGA National to U.S.1: traffic management system installation
This 5-mile project to install a system that better manages the flow of traffic started in October and should be finished this summer. Workers are adding new cameras at 15 intersections with traffic signals and adding a system that helps detect vehicles in the middle of the block.
There may be intermittent shoulder and outside lane closures 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
