13 SCHOOLS GETTING NEW PRINCIPALS THIS YEAR
Four more on way; one elementary, one middle school get first-timers.
When the first bell rings in August, students won’t be the only ones new to some campuses. Thirteen Palm Beach County public schools have been assigned new principals and four more
schools await appointments to fill that vacant top spot as of Friday.
While the principals may be new to a school, they aren’t all “new” — some are just moving from one school to another. The two (so far) who are indeed taking the helm for the first time:
Bruce Saulter at Cypress Trails Elementary in Royal Palm Beach and Ricky Clark at John F. Kennedy Middle in Riviera Beach.
Saulter is new to Cypress Trails but not to Royal Palm Beach. After spending one year teaching in Indianapolis, Saulter’s first job in this county was teaching at Royal Palm Beach Elementary, and his family lives in the village. Saulter comes to the principal job after serving as an assistant principal at Seminole Trails Elementary in West Palm Beach.
Clark steps into his job as JFK’s next principal after working as one of the school’s assistant principals. Clark replaces Corey Brooks, who leaves JFK to become principal at William T. Dwyer High in Palm Beach Gardens. Dwyer’s Joseph DePasquale is moving to become
director of the district’s charter schools office, taking over for the retiring Jim Pegg.
Other moves that have been
approved since the close of last school year:
Shari Bremekamp leaves Cypress Trails Elementary principalship in Royal Palm Beach to become principal at Hidden Oaks Elementary in the suburbs northwest of Boynton Beach.
Elizabeth Morales leaves the principal post at Highland Elementary in Lake Worth to become principal at Okeeheelee Middle, where David Samore exits before retiring in December.
Gerald Riopelle leaves the helm at Omni Middle in Boca Raton to switch assignments with the principal at Banyan Creek Elementary in Delray Beach, Allison Castellano.
Patrick Galatowitsch leaves his job as instructional superintendent in the north regional office to become principal at Egret Lake Elementary in West Palm Beach.
Cheryl McKeever ends her temporary assignment filling in for Principal Denise O’Connor at Congress Middle School in Boynton Beach to become the district’s director of assessment. O’Connor returns to her post full time.
At Jupiter Elementary, Patricia Trejo departs to become a program planner in the office of Teaching and Learning. Trejo is replaced by Nicole Daly, the principal at Osceola Creek Middle. Daly’s replacement has yet to be named.
Principal Adam Miller leaves Golden Grove Elementary near Loxahatchee to become director of Educational Technology. Miller is replaced by Linda Edgecomb, principal at Glade View Elementary. Edgecomb’s successor has yet to be named.
Principal Moneek McTier leaves Roosevelt Middle to become instructional superintendent in the Glades regional offices.
Also in the Glades, Melanie Bolden-Morris, an assistant principal at Glades Central High moves to the top job there.
And Pahokee Middle/ Senior High Principal Michael Aronson exits his post as head of the high school to take over at Polo Park Middle in Wellington.
District officials said they are consolidating the roles of middle and high school principals at Pahokee, and Dwayne Dennard, principal of the middle school, will lead the campus for all grades.
