Benefits of implants with denture

-

Question: My dentures no longer fit. I’ve been embarrassed with them slipping off while eating and talking. Should I consider implants?

Answer: Yes! Implants are a great way to support your denture. They will hold your upper and/ or lower denture secure without coming loose. You will no longer have to rely on denture adhesives and the mess they bring.

In addition to holding your dentures in place, implants will also prevent the continued loss of bone from your maxilla (upper jaw bone) and mandible (lower jaw bone) that begins when your teeth are removed. It is this bone loss that is the culprit for your loose and ill-fitting denture.

Implants act like the roots of the teeth you lost. They stimulate the bone when in function and help to maintain its density and volume (i.e., keeps your bone from disappearing).

Using implants to snap dentures in place is an excellent option. They can also be used to support an individual crown or bridgework. Implants afford you the look, feel and function of natural teeth, and can be used to eliminate the need for a denture completely.

When you have implants supporting your dentistry, you will be able to chew as if you had your real teeth. You will enjoy the foods you now avoid and won’t have to fear for any of those embarrassing moments.

According to the National Institute of Health, they are the No. 1 way to replace a missing tooth.
