THINGS TO DO
SUPERHEROES, UNITE!
Calling all superheroes: It’s your night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. The first 300 kids who show up at the ballpark, 4751 Main St. in Jupiter, ahead of the 5:30 p.m. game Saturday will receive a blue superhero cape from Palm Beach Children’s Hospital. Five “Hometown Heroes” who were nominated by their peers will be recognized. CBS 12’s morning news anchor, Suzanne Boyd, will throw out the first pitch before the St. Lucie Mets play the Jupiter Hammerheads. Tickets can be purchased online. For $25, you can receive one of 400 Boyd bobbleheads — proceeds will benefit Take Stock in Children Palm Beach. Otherwise, tickets for adults are $9, and $7 for children ages 3 to 12 and seniors.
HIKE THROUGH HISTORY
A free morning hike will take visitors back in time at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum is hosting this 2-mile hike starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday for adults and children as young as 5. Children 13 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. The tour will begin at the flagpole at the museum, 500 Captain Armour’s Way. Those participating should bring water and wear a hat, active wear and hiking footwear. Weather may affect the event. An RSVP is required as space is limited. Call 561-7478380, Ext. 101.
BIOLOGIST BEACH WALKS
Join biologists from Loggerhead Marinelife Center on beaches in Juno Beach or Tequesta and learn about how sea turtles nest and hatch, and potentially have the chance to see a live nest excavation (staff with LMC can do this with a permit from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission). The walks continue Wednesday to Sunday through Sept. 9. The cost to preregister online and save your spot is $15 for each person and $12 for LMC members. Walk-ins are $20. The check-in for the program starts at 6:45 a.m. at the center, 14200 U.S. 1 in Juno Beach. Those who go should expect to walk a half mile in soft sand.
