THINGS TO DO
COASTAL CLEANUP
Those who want to keep the Jupiter area’s environmental treasures trash-free can participate in the International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday. The Loxahatchee River Center is hosting the event at Coral Cove Park from 9 to 11 a.m. Participants should bring a refillable water bottle, closed-toe shoes, sunglasses, a hat as well as a bucket and garden gloves. For more information, contact the Loxahatchee River Center at 561743-7123 or rivercenter@lrecd.org.
COPS AND TEENS
High school students will have the opportunity to meet their local police officers, have pizza, earn community service hours and chat about sensitive but important topics on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Topics will include personal safety, mental health, addiction and interactions with police. These discussions will happen every second Wednesday of the month at the Jupiter Community Center in Room C. For more information, contact the Jupiter Police Department at 561-741-2426.
BIRD WATCHING
A biologist with the Palm Beach County Department of Environmental Resources Management will take birders out at Frenchman’s Forest Natural Area for a “Meet South Florida’s Snowbirds” event. Participants will learn about native birds and their habitats on a leisurely hike ( just a warning, there are no restrooms here) at 12201 Prosperity Farms Road in Jupiter. Binoculars, water, appropriate hiking wear and bug spray should be brought. The event is free, but participants should register on the Eventbrite page at https://bit.ly/2x0FCW0.
