COASTAL CLEANUP

Those who want to keep the Jupiter area’s environmen­tal treasures trash-free can participat­e in the Internatio­nal Coastal Cleanup on Saturday. The Loxahatche­e River Center is hosting the event at Coral Cove Park from 9 to 11 a.m. Participan­ts should bring a refillable water bottle, closed-toe shoes, sunglasses, a hat as well as a bucket and garden gloves. COPS AND TEENS

High school students will have the opportunit­y to meet their local police officers, have pizza, earn community service hours and chat about sensitive but important topics on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Topics will include personal safety, mental health, addiction and interactio­ns with police. These discussion­s will happen every second Wednesday of the month at the Jupiter Community Center in Room C. For more informatio­n, contact the Jupiter Police Department at 561-741-2426.

BIRD WATCHING

A biologist with the Palm Beach County Department of Environmen­tal Resources Management will take birders out at Frenchman’s Forest Natural Area for a “Meet South Florida’s Snowbirds” event. Participan­ts will learn about native birds and their habitats on a leisurely hike ( just a warning, there are no restrooms here) at 12201 Prosperity Farms Road in Jupiter. Binoculars, water, appropriat­e hiking wear and bug spray should be brought. The event is free, but participan­ts should register on the Eventbrite page at https://bit.ly/2x0FCW0.
