Millage rate increase will help our schools

The Palm Beach Post - - OPINION: THE DEBATE STARTS HERE - LETTERS@PBPOST.COM

Violence can erupt anywhere at any time — the recent gun violence incident at a Palm Beach Central High football game is evidence of that. As concerned parents, we should want the Palm Beach County School District to be well-prepared, wellequipped, well-organized and well-trained to handle these events.

Our school district needs funds to keep our children safe; we need to be willing to put our money where our mouth is. If we demand increased protection for our children, then we should be willing to pay more money in taxes.

Increasing the millage rate will fund extra security, provide much-needed mental health services at area schools and raise salaries for veteran teachers.

It’s a no-brainer. I’m for the referendum, and all caring community members should be, too.

CHARMAIN POSTEL,

BOCA RATON
