The Palm Beach Post - - NFL GAME DAY -

I like the way this sets up for Miami. Sam Darnold has been christened as the next Joe Namath. The Jets have shifted from underdogs to giant favorites. The loss of Josh Sitton in a game involving Leonard Williams hurts. But I have a gut feeling Ryan Tannehill plays an excellent road game. And that Kenyan Drake has a big game, too.

Last time the

Dolphins went to MetLife Stadium, the Jets were supposedly tanking and still nearly shut them out. Now New York is riding high with rookie Sam Darnold at quarterback, and the Miami offensive line has to deal with stalwart left guard Josh Sitton going on injured reserve.

I’m not ready to anoint Sam Darnold as the next Mark Sanchez or Joe Namath, but he sure looked legit in the opener. A bigger worry, though, is whether the Dolphins can handle the Jets’ running attack of Isaiah Crowell and Bilal Powell. Meanwhile, the dogged Dolphins’ attempt to keep this offensive line intact lasted all of one week before Josh Sitton’s injury continued their jinx at guard.

The Dolphins-Jets series gets introduced to

the biggest sports sensation to hit New York since Aaron Judge — rookie QB Sam Darnold. Figure the Miami secondary

and pass rush will be better than Detroit’s, so I don’t see Darnold matching his debut. Except for two interceptions, Ryan Tannehill looked good and Miami has a nice RB tandem in Drake/Gore. I’ll go with the team that played a marathon Sunday over the team that played on MNF.
