Man on bicycle is struck, killed in pre-dawn crash near Lake Worth Beach

An 18-year-old motorcycle rider from West Palm Beach was killed this week in a collision with another vehicle just outside the city limits, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Investigat­ors say Alexander Diaz died from injuries sustained in the crash, which occurred at about 4 p.m. Monday along the 4200 block of Community Drive, between Village Boulevard and Military Trail.

According to a PBSO crash report, Diaz was driving west on Community approachin­g the intersecti­on with 12th Street when the driver of a 2019 Jeep was attempting to turn onto eastbound Community from southbound 12th.

LAKE WORTH BEACH – A 41-yearold man was killed this week when his bicycle and a car crashed as he rode along 10th Avenue North near Lake Worth Beach, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigat­ors say the crash happened at 5:45 a.m. Monday in the 2300 block of 10th Avenue North, just west of the city limits.

According to the sheriff ’s report, James M. Lindelof was crossing the road from south to north when he entered the path of a westbound 2013 Toyota Corolla.

As the Jeep entered the intersecti­on, Diaz attempted to brake, causing his 2001 Honda CBR 900 RR motorcycle to slide into the center median. As the motorcycle slid to the southwest and into the median, it struck the driver’s side of the Jeep.

Diaz was thrown from the bike to the pavement as a result of the collision, PBSO said.

He died at the scene. Diaz was wearing a helmet, according to the crash report.

Investigat­ors say a 43-year-old West Palm Beach woman was driving the Jeep. She was not injured.

The PBSO report did not indicate whether any charges or citations are pending against her.
