Big-rig restrictions a mistake

I keep reading articles in your paper how people in The Acreage do not want semi-tractor trailer trucks driving on their streets and parking on private property. I’ve lived here my whole life and there’s always been a complaint about semis so they finally moved out into Loxahatchee and The Acreage. Now you want them to leave there too. If they take their trucks, they’re goods go, too. Truckers do a vital service delivering items we need. Not only am I proud to have truckers living in my neighborhood. I often leave notes on their trucks thanking them for spending time away from their families, taking their lives into their hands driving, and bringing goods into my area. You can’t fix stupid. But you can thank the truckers!

Is Trump operating with a full deck?

Republicans have long been complaining about President Biden’s age and mental health. This is a man who quietly, calmly and competently has been handling all manner of issues on behalf of the American people. The COVID pandemic is now largely over, the economy that was widely predicted to go into recession is humming along. Even if you disagree with his policies, Biden has proven himself a decent, experienced leader of our country.

On the other hand, Trump’s mental state, never good, seems to be deteriorating rapidly. He’s slightly younger than Biden, but his physical and emotional well-being is clearly very bad. He cannot form sentences, he gets basic facts wrong, he wanders off topic and gets confused. It’s becoming very obvious that he’s not mentally fit to lead our country. Joe Biden is an old guy getting the job done, whereas Donald Trump is physically and mentally unwell and in need of help.

County erred on Acreage big rigs decision

Long haul truckers are on the road five to six days a week. They need safe parking for their rigs when they’re off the road. So they buy some land in The Acreage as a home base, only to have non-truckers and likely non-Acreage, people wanting to control where they can park their rigs, at home. How many people wanting to control this actually live in The Acreage, or make a habit of driving around just to have an opportunity to be offended by a temporarily parked $100K-plus truck? Am I a trucker? No. Just a resident who thinks we need to show some tolerance for those who make life better for all of us.
