Strokes are striking more folks, including rapper’s 24-year-old daughter
As if we needed any further proof that strokes can strike at any age, last month rapper Snoop Dogg’s 24-yearold daughter, Cori Broadus, revealed that she had suffered one.
“I had a severe stroke this a.m.,” she posted on her Instagram page with a photo from the hospital. “I started breaking down crying when they told me,” Like I’m only 24, what did I do in my past to deserve all of this.”
While Broadus, who was diagnosed with lupus at age 6, didn’t share the details of what happened in the time leading up to her diagnosis, a few days after the initial post, she took to Instagram again to say that she was progressing in her recovery.
“God is working overtime you hear me! My kidneys were doing terrible … doctors came in this AM and said they are improving so much,” she wrote.
It’s unknown how much, if any, Broadus’ lupus played in her suffering a stroke. But when the autoimmune condition flares up it creates inflammation that can affect the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs — and thus increase one’s risk for stroke.
Another young celebrity suffered a TIA
Broadus’ revelation comes on the heels of another 20-something celebrity, Hailey Bieber, revealing that she’d suffered a transient ischemic attack (TIA) in 2022 when she was 25.
Experts consider a TIA a “ministroke” — but the Bieber still called the scary episode “life-changing.”
