New York and Palm Beach County appear to be inextricably connected. And now that link extends to TGL, the interactive golf league headed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

TGL’s New York Golf Club was announced this week and includes three residents of northern Palm Beach County: Jupiter’s Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele and Cameron Young along with North Palm Beach’s Matt Fitzpatrick.

New York Mets owner Steve Cohen owns NYGC.

“New Yorkers expect and deserve the best, and we couldn’t be more excited to have four of the best players in the world serve as an extension of the thriving golf and sporting culture of our city and region,” Cohen said.

“Rickie, Xander, Matt, and Cameron’s unwavering dedication to the sport, successful track records, and passion for winning is undisputable, and we look forward to watching them compete on golf ’s newest stage.”

The team includes three members in the top 15 of the current world ranking: No. 5 Schauffele, No. 11 Fitzpatrick and No. 13 Young. Fowler is No. 34.

TGL, which is backed by TMRW Sports, will launch on Jan. 7, 2025, and play its first three matches on the first three Tuesdays in January. The primetime matches will be televised by ESPN.

NYCG is one of six teams that will make up the league, each including four PGA Tour pros. Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York’s rosters are set. Boston, which includes McIlroy, is seeking one player to replace Tyrrell Hatton, who was dropped from TGL after joining LIV Golf.

Jupiter, which is owned by Woods, and San Francisco still must fill out their rosters.
