District honored for charity fundraisers
Helping to promote a heart-healthy lifestyle has definitely paid off. To the communitymembers in Spring-Ford who have participated in any fundraisers benefitting the American Heart Association over the last decade, the organization would like to give a great big thankyou.
A representative fromthe charity stopped by Monday’s school board meeting to praise the district for its fundraising efforts and present a plaque as a symbol of gratitude. Since 2005, the Spring-Ford community has helped raised more than $600,000 toward the American Heart Association through fundraisers like the Jump Rope for Hearts and Hoops for Hearts programs.
“Your school community has been so gener- ous in working with us,” said Margaret De Genarro, youth market director with the American Heart Association. “We’re on a life saving mission. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer.”
DeGenarro posed with Superintendent David Goodin and board President Tom Dibello with the award.
“This is an amazing accomplishment for the dis- trict and everyone that participates throughout the elementary schools,” DiBello said. “It’s a great honor to be part of such a program. We look forward to that continuing in the future.”
