Collegeville man arrested for indecent exposure
Police arrested a Collegeville man after he allegedly masturbated naked in public several times along Boot Road in August and September.
Gary Reed Hacker, 59, of Collegeville, was arrested after police set up several cameras in the area following four reports they received from residents about Hacker’s alleged behavior.
On Aug. 30, when police received another similar report, they said they checked the cameras and found photos of a man in his 50’s wearing a V-neck T-shirt, gym shorts, and Merrell sneakers.
A little over a week later, an off-duty police officer aware of the ongoing investigation saw a white Jeep Liberty mentioned in prior police reports parked alongside of the road near Boot Road. Police said Hacker has similar, prior offenses.
The officer found Hacker allegedly masturbating in public nearby. According to police, he reportedly attempted to flee but got stuck in traffic. He was subsequently arrested and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge John R. Bailey Sept. 9.
He was charged with several counts of disorderly conduct, open lewdness, and indecent exposure.
Bail was set at 10 percent of $25,000, which Hacker posted. His preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 22 at 9 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge William D. Kraut.
