Colonial Theater executive director to be honored.
PHOENIXVILLE >> This year the Schuylkill River Heritage Center is honoring Mary Foote, the executive director at the historic Colonial Theater, at its seventh annual Heritage Award Celebration.
“A Night at the Movies” will be held on Thursday, Oct. 6, from6 to 9 p.m. at The Foundry, 2 N. Main St., Phoenixville. Admission is $75 per person.
Foote has been the theatre’s executive director since 1999. Working with volunteers, Foote has transformed the theatre into a gathering place for people of all ages.
The Colonial Theatre presents live programs, including a fall concert series and a children’s theatre program during the summer. These special events, along with the classic, independent, cult, art, and children’s films featured at the theatre, have helped to bring about Phoenixville’s renaissance.
Along with a special dinner, Greg Hytha’s band, Rhythm & Blondes, will provide live music from famous movies. Jim Batty’s group, Events That Entertain, will show snippets from fa-- mous movies on several screens in the Foundry Building.
The proceeds from the event will be used to upgrade the Schuylkill River Heritage Center’s interactive kiosks, incorporating the latest 21st century technology that will benefit everyone who visits the museum. The history smart phone app features over 80 places in the region, and this will be included as part of the kiosk upgrades.
The Heritage Celebration is sponsored by Hankin Phoenixville Foundry Partners for providing the Foundry Building space, Allan Myers, Aqua America, Beausang, Butera, Cohen and Brennan, Ches-Mont Valley Ventures, Colonial Gardens, Frees Insurance, JB Productions, PECO, Phoenixville Federal Bank & Trust, Phoenixville Hospital, Queen of Hearts Catering, and Sly Fox Brewing Company.
