Lawmakers to host veterans expo at college
BLUE BELL >> To inform veterans and their families about the services available to them, area lawmakers will host a Veterans Expo on Monday, Nov. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in College Hall at Montgomery County Community College, 340 Dekalb Pike.
The event is jointly hosted by U.S. Congressman Patrick Meehan, R-7th Dist., and state Reps. Kate Harper, R61st Dist., Tom Murt, R152nd Dist., Marcy Toepel, R-147th Dist., and Todd Stephens, R-151st Dist..
“While our veterans have valiantly served our country — for which I am eternally grateful — many of them are not aware of the programs that are in place for their benefit,” Toepel said in a press release. “This expo is a great opportunity to learn about what is available. I hope that the convenience of being able to visit one location, where countless people who are knowledgeable regarding veterans’ needs and programs can provide information, will encourage our veterans to attend and learn more.”
T he Montgomer y County Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, Merck, the U.S. Small Business Administration, Vets Journey Home and many other organizations are planning to participate in the expo. The Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds also will be on site to issue ID cards to Montgomery County veterans (a DD214 and photo ID are required for ID card issuance).
There is no cost to attend, and light refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Toepel’s district office in Gilbertsville at 610 323-3299. Information is also available at RepToepel.com.
