Steel museum holding first ever photo contest

Visitors to National Iron & Steel Heritage Museum invited to take photos at grounds

COATESVILL­E» This fall, visitors and community members alike may take photos of the National Iron & Steel HeritageMu­seumand grounds and submit them into a contest. The public will vote on two winners, who will receive prints and a free tour of the museum.

Participan­ts may take photos when the museum and grounds are open to the public (daylight hours). They may submit photos into two categories: color; and black and white. The public will then vote on one Grand Prize winner in each category, who will receive a guided tour of the museum for up to 6 persons, six 5 inch x 7 inch copies of their winning photo, and will agree to let the museum sell copies of their winning photo in theMuseumS­tore.

Each category will also have one Runner-up and one President’s Choice winner. All winning photos will be published in an up- coming issue of Boilerplat­e magazine.

CONTEST RULES:

1. All photos must be taken during the contest (Sept. 20 through Friday, Nov. 24). Photos taken before Sept. 20 are not eligible for entry.

2. Photos must be taken when the museum and grounds are open to the public (10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and daylight hours).

3. Participan­ts may submit one photo for each category.

4. All photos must be delivered or submitted to education@steelmuseu­m.org by Friday, Nov. 24.

5. Voting will take place at the museum’s Holiday OpenHouse (Friday, Dec. 8) and then continue through Friday, Dec. 15 via social media and email.

6. Participan­ts may win once in each category, and may win the Grand Prize in one category only.

7. Winners will be announced the week of Dec. 17.

8. Contest is not open to NISHM staff and family members.
