Safety concerns at new school are still valid

-

We hope and pray for all of the new students in the two new schools in the Phoenixville School District and all the residents who live in this area. May they live in health and safety. I tried to stop their construction because of the reservations about the safety of everyone because of the outdated roads, lack of shoulders on the roads and endless gridlock.

I shared my concerns with the school superintendent and the township’s supervisors because what would happen if there would be a serious accident at Pothouse Road and Route 29 during peak traffic times. I asked how they would get emergency vehicles to the accident. I got the same answer from the superintendent and supervisors: “We will take care of it.”

It’s unfortunate but true that in our society money is the number one priority. We got in this dangerous situation because our Schuylkill Township supervisors made no effort to stop the school district from gaining control of the Meadowbrook Golf Course, a beautiful open space in the township. The residents of this area had no say or representation in this situation. Once again, your supervisors played God even though the taxpayers fund everything that transpires in the township. Taxation without representation, that’s what started our Revolutionary War.

There was absolute collusion between the lawyers from both sides who actually work for the same firm. Then we have a judge who granted eminent domain, never even considered the problems it would create for the residents in the area, endless gridlock at peak traffic times, a real safety concern. It was a big feather in the superintendent’s hat, more prestige. He already has a big ego, safety isn’t a priority.

The township supervisors and their solicitor, the school board and their lawyer, the school district, our present superintendent and the incompetent judge, if anything tragic happens, it will be on your conscience.

Save this letter. If something bad happens, you will know who to blame.
