Late basket gives Phoenixvil­le 36-35 win over Pottsgrove

PHOENIXVIL­LE 36, POTTSGROVE 35 » Jasmine Hamilton’s put-back basket proved decisive for the Phantoms in their PAC Frontier Division victory over the Falcons on Jan. 2.

Hamilton’s second shot came with 5.8 seconds left in the game. Peyton Graham led Phoenixvil­le with her 14-point effort while Riley Simon (game-high 15) and Sierra Potts (10) were the leaders for Pottsgrove.

UPPER DARBY 38, PHOENIXVIL­LE 31 » The Phantoms fell off the Royals’ second-half scoring pace in their non-league matchup on Dec. 29.

Jasmine Hamilton had nine points and 10 rebounds to lead Phoenixvil­le. Peyton Graham added eight points and 10 boards.

SPRING-FORD 48, BOYERTOWN 35 » Rachel Christman and CassieMart­e combined for 21 points to head the Rams in their PAC Liberty Division victory over the Bears on Jan. 2.

Christman and Marte headed SpringFord’s drive to a 20-9 halftime lead that went to 31-15 going into the fourth. Kylie Webb and Julia Smith led Boyertown with their 10-point outings. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 49, NORRISTOWN 13 » Megan Jonassen led a crew of 11 Vikings who got in the scorebook in their PAC Liberty Division romp over the Eagles on Jan. 2.

Jonassen finished with 12 points as the game’s lone double-figure scorer. Taylor Hamm chipped in with nine to help PV build a 27-2 first half lead — its defense blanked Norristown in the second quarter — then go into the fourth up 42-5.

Boys basketball

WILDWOOD 53, PHOENIXVIL­LE 42 » The Phantoms fell off Wildwood’s scoring pace early and fell to the hometown teamin an opening-round game from the Boardwalk Classic on Dec. 29.

Brendan Jenkins was the leader for Phoenixvil­le (3-5), pulling down a gamehigh 15 rebounds while emerging as one of three players with eight points. Steve Hamilton and Colton Brownmatch­ed Jenkins’ scoring production while K.J. Quinn kicked in another seven.

ABSEGAMI44,PHOENIXVIL­LE37» The Phantoms fell off Absegami’s second-half scoring pace by a 21-17 margin, going on to lose the Wildwood Classic’s BernieMcCr­acken Memorial consolatio­n game on Dec. 30.

Brendan Jenkins emerged as Phoenixvil­le’s statistica­l leader, his 14 points and eight rebounds both team highs. K.J. Quinn chipped in with another 11 points for Phoenixvil­le (3-6), which trailed Absegami by a 23-20 count after the first half.
