LIMERICK » The Limerick Fire Company and Linfield Fire Company recently received a grant worth nearly a quarter million dollars that will help them make some needed updates to equipment.

The grant was given to the department by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program in the amount $242,096.

The grant will go toward the replacement of 41 Self Contained Breathing Apparatus that are 10 years old and have already been upgraded twice as well as spare air cylinders for each air pack.

Limerick Fire Company President Tom Walters said, “This SCBA grant is an item that can come off the Township’s Fire Capital Budget and spare a large expense that is normally paid by the Relief Association”.

The department continually searches out grant opportunities to equip firefighters with state of the art equipment to serve the residents of Limerick Township.
