Little Free Library honors former Pottstown woman

- —Submitted by Dena Wentz

There is a new Little Free Library in Richmond, Virginia, in memory of Pottstown resident Ana Ravelo-Ortiz. It was donated by her daughter, Dena Wentz and her husband, of Richmond, to Henrico County Parks and Recreation. The grand opening celebration included cupcakes, storytime by two children’s authors, a book collection and giveaways.

Ana Ravelo-Ortiz was a resident of Pottstown for nearly 10 years before she passed away unexpectedly from an acute illness at only 59 years of age. She was a full-time teacher at Norristown

Middle School. Ana came to the U.S. at age 14 and pursued her education all the way to grad school. She raised three children as a single mother until she remarried a Pottstown resident and moved from Harrisburg to Pottstown. The goal is to remember and honor her with this gift to promote literacy, kindness and community.
