Phoenixville tops Up­per Dublin 4-1 in dis­trict opener

Talk about an ef­fec­tive turn­around.

Ex­actly a week af­ter be­ing shut out in the semi­fi­nal round of the Pi­o­neer Ath­letic Con­fer­ence play­offs, the Phoenixville field hockey team re­turned with a flour­ish on Tues­day af­ter­noon.

The Phan­toms topped Up­per Dublin 4-1 dur­ing the open­ing round of the Dis­trict One Class AA play­offs.

Cas­sidy Stevens scored twice while Ameerah Green added three as­sists in the win for Phoenixville. Syd­ney Alling and Cas­sidy Stevens each added solo tal­lies while Abby Del­grosso and Gianna Chipo­nis com­bined for two saves in goal.

Jenn McCarry scored No. 12 Up­per Dublin’s lone goal on a feed from Ryan Kyll­man. Megan Muth fin­ished with four saves in the cage.

With the win, No. 5-seeded Phoenixville ad­vances to face No. 4 Great Val­ley on Thurs­day.


Phoenixville’s Aubrie Breis­blatt moves pass the de­fense of Up­per Dublin’s Ryann Kull­mann and Lau­ren Greene.
