New manager appointed
The Schuylkill Township Board of Supervisors has appointed Edward (“EJ”) M. Mentry Jr. as the new township manager.
Mentry comes to Schuylkill Township from Upper Nazareth Township, Northampton County, where he has served as the township manager since 2015. Mentry was selected after an extensive search to replace Schuylkill Township’s longtime manager, Mary Bird.
“EJ possesses the skills necessary to be an outstanding manager and community leader,” said supervisors’ Chairwoman Martha Majewski. “His background in planning and local government coupled with his strong work ethic make EJ an excellent choice.”
Mentry is a graduate of Villanova University with a B.A. in political science and a Master of Public Administration. He will report to the Board of Supervisors and supervise the administrative and public works staff. He will be responsible for all municipal projects, revenues and expenditures, including the preparation of the annual manager’s recommended budget.
“The board did an exhaustive search for the manager position and found the best candidate for the position,” Majewski said. “With EJ’s background and his drive to serve the residents of Schuylkill Township, we will continue to head in a positive direction as a municipality for years to come.”
Mentry will start his new position with Schuylkill Township on Oct. 29.
