Friel Otten faces off against Corbin in 155th District.
Democrat Danielle Friel Otten and Republican incumbent Rep. Becky Corbin seek the nod from voters to serve as state representative in the 155th Legislative District.
Corbin lives in East Brandywine Township and Friel Otten calls Exton home.
Corbin hopes to continue to build and grow a positive business environment and “create more family sustaining jobs and opportunities for our residents,” she said. “When businesses thrive, our communities benefit as well.”
Corbin graduated from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, with a bachelor’s degree in science and chemistry, and a minor in music.
She is married with two children and two grandchildren.
Corbin noted that $2.6 billion was added to the state’s education budget during the past six years without raising taxes.
She wants to ensure that “local school districts receive the funding and resources they need to educate our children and keep our children safe.”
She also is concerned with increasing public safety and making sure the Mariner East 2 pipeline is constructed safely.
“I wrote to Gov. Wolf and asked him to review this project to consider all potential public safety and environmental impacts.”
Friel Otten said she would fight for affordable health care.
As the mother of a child born with a rare and costly medical disorder, Friel Otten said she knows the challenges for the health system. She would work to lower premiums and copays, cut prescription drug costs, protect coverage of pre-existing conditions and support safe staffing limits for nurses and simplify the health care system.
“I believe in protecting women’s health care, including agency over their own body and reproductive rights,” she said.
Friel Otten is a marketing consultant and is married with two children. She graduated from West Chester University with a degree in kinesiology.
She favors finding sustainable education funding solutions.
“I will fight for state budgets that fully and fairly fund our public schools while ending over-reliance on local property taxes,” she said.
Friel Otten said she will stand up for neighborhoods and the environment.
“I will hold the greedy oil and gas industry accountable,” Friel Otten said. “I will put private property rights, clean water sources and the safety of our communities ahead of corporate profits.”
The 155th House District includes parts of Spring City and Phoenixville, and all of West Vincent, East Pikeland, Uwchlan, Upper Uwchlan, East Brandywine and West Brandywine.
