Vikings can’t spoil Boyertown’s senior night

On their Senior Night, the Bears burst out to a 24-0 lead thanks to the bookends of the lineup for a PAC Liberty Division victory Wednesday night.

Boyertown won the first four bouts by pin or forfeit with Robert Terra (285), Jay Maldonado (113) and Derek Renninger (120) scoring first-period pins to grab the big lead.

PV got within 24-14 after wins from Luke Ricci (pin at 126), Kelly Kakos (decision at 132) and PJ Kakos (technical fall at 138).

But Boyertown three of the next four matches thanks to Evan Detwiler (145), Noah Fisher (12) and Alan Alexander (170), whose pin clinched the win.

Other pinfall winners were Anthony Bauer (220) for Boyertown, and Jacob Sturm (182) and Jakob Sterling (195) for PV.

In a match that featured only four contested bouts, Malchi Jones majored at 126 and Josiah Wiggins pinned at 182 to lead the Trojans to a PAC Frontier win Wednesday.

Blake Fisher (pin at 285) and Matt Delciotto (6-3 decision at 160) were winners for PJP. Pottstown benefitted from eight forfeit wins.

The Indians opened a 30-point lead in Wednesday’s PAC Frontier Division match, then weathered the Phantoms’ late stretch run to become the division’s lone unbeaten team.

Pins by Joey Carpenter (126), Mike Milkowich (132) and Keaton Durning (145) combined with Zach Rozanski’s technical fall at 152 and Gavin Marks’ major decision at 138 to give UP a 33-3 lead. Phoenixvil­le then took four of the final six weights, headed by pins from Owen Koch (170) and David Polanki (195) to close the point spread.

Damon Faraco scored another pin for UP at 220.
