• The Phoenix Book Club, Phoenixville Public Library’s book discussion group for adults of all ages, will meet virtually on Monday, Dec. 13 at 7 PM. The group will discuss Fredrik Backman’s bestselling novel, “Anxious People.” Viewing an apartment normally doesn’t turn into a life-or-death situation, but this particular open house becomes just that: a failed bank robber bursts in and takes everyone in the apartment hostage. As police surround the premises and television channels broadcast the hostage situation live, the eight strangers begin opening up to one another. Before long, the robber must decide which is the more terrifying prospect: going out to face the police or staying in the apartment with this group of impossible people. A physical or audiobook copy of this book may be reserved at https://www.ccls.org. An e-book or e-audiobook copy may be reserved at https://chester.overdrive. com. This event is free and open to the public and will be held online via Zoom. Tracey Walsh, Court Appointed Special Advocate with CASA Youth Advocates, will be the speaker. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Delaware and Chester counties makes sure children who have experienced abuse or neglect can be safe, have a permanent home, and achieve a bright future. They are a volunteerdriven agency that gives a powerful voice to children. Please join us for a 20-minute informational session about the work that they do and how you can help. This event is free and open to the public and will be held online via Zoom.
