Books on Tap, Phoenixville Public Library’s book discussion group for adults in their 20s and 30s, will meet online Tuesday, Jan. 25, at 7:00 PM. The group will discuss “The Hob’s Bargain” by Patricia Briggs. Hated and feared, magic was banished from the land. But now, freed from the spells of the wicked blood mages, magic — good and evil — returns. Aren of Fallbrook feels her own powers of sight strengthen and grow. Overcome by mayhem and murder, Aren vows to save her village from the ruthless raiders who have descended upon it and killed her family. When the wildlings return to hills and forests, she strikes a bargain with the Hob, a magical humanlike creature imbued with the powers of the mountains. But the Hob is the last of his kind and will exact a heavy price to defend the village, and Aren must pay. This event is free and open to the public and will be held online via Zoom. Email Christine Shaffer at shaffer.m.christine@gmail. com for more information and to receive the Zoom invitation.
